The Toxic Shocks remain undefeated! In Saturday night’s hometown showdown, the ladies in green broke what had become a multi-season-long losing-to-the-Sake Tuyas streak. While this season has been full of winning for the Shocks, last year the Sakes beat the Shocks both times they met — with the Sakes effectively barring the Shocks from the 2012 Champ Bout. You can bet that this was on the minds of the Shocks as they took the floor last weekend. This was a defensive game from the first whistle, with the legendary Shock wall in full effect. All-Star caliber blocking from Rebel Yellow, Alassin Sane, and Desi Scarnaz held back even the prior bout’s MVP Sake, Hollicidal. The Sakes welcomed back The inimitable Merchant of Menace, who reminded everyone present of her skills as both a jammer and blocker, a true double-threat.
At the half, the Shocks lead the Sakes by almost 100 points. The Sakes came back slowly, but never did get close enough to really threaten the Shock’s lead. In their final game as Atlanta Rollergirls, Sake Tuya skaters Ice Sickle and Dee Lorean played their hearts out. Great fun was had by all, and the Shocks held onto their number one spot in the hometown rankings.
Toxic Shocks players of the game were Tart Breaker (jammer) and Desi Scarnaz (blocker). Sake Tuya players of the game were Hollicidal (jammer) and Agent Maulder (blocker).
