April 18, 2009: Prepare for Pain

Bout One: DSDG 183 vs. Memphis Hustlin’ Rollers 101
Memphis came out of the gate strong taking a 4-0 lead after the first jam. That was just enough to kick DSDG into high gear. The Atlanta All-Stars quickly answered with 12 points in the next jam and they continued to rack up the score, ending the half leading 99-41.
Both teams came into the second half fighting for the win, but the penalties increased and more players spent time in the box. Memphis played hard to the final jam, but DSDG continued to control the game, ultimately winning 183-101.
Bout Two: Toxic Shocks 101 vs. Denim Demons 76
The Toxic Shocks began the game with a fiercely defensive pack, holding the Denim Demons at 0 points for the first three jams. But the Demons caught their stride in the fourth jam finally putting points on the board. The half ended with the Demons 39 points behind. Toxic Shocks 73 – Denim Demons 34.
In the second half, the Demons came back showing their tight-knit defensive packs. With help from jammers Scarbie Doll and Edna VenDetta, they began to close the gap on the Toxic Shocks. But with impressive jamming from the The Merchant of Menace and AT Hellion, and stand-out defense from blockers like Amelia Scareheart and Chopper Bleed, the Shocks were able to hold their lead and win the game 101 to 76.
MVPs were awarded to AT Hellion (Shocks) and Edna VenDetta (Demons) for their impressive jamming.
