Grudge Match: Sake Tuyas 69 vs. Apocalypstix 104

The Grudge Match saw the Sake Tuyas and the Apocalypstix facing-off for the second year in a row. Both teams have worked hard all season and neither wanted to walk away without the third place title. The Sakes looked better than ever on the track, but each time the Sakes grabbed the lead, the Stix would take it back. At halftime the Stix were ahead 52 to the Sakes’ 35. The Sakes held back the Stix in the beginning of the second half, narrowing the gap in the first few jams. But ultimately the Stix prevailed, taking third place for the second year in a row with a final score of 69 to 104.

MVPs were Nora Gretz (Sake Tuyas) and Aimzz 2 Kill (Apocalypstix).

Championship Bout: Denim Demons 82 vs. Toxic Shocks 107

The last bout of the season pitted the fierce Denim Demons against the defending champions, the Toxic Shocks. The Demons have struggled with the loss of several of their seasoned skaters this year, but the league rallied around them and provided subs from the Stix, the Sakes, and the Dirty South Derby Girls. Both teams started out strong and the fans were treated to a furious level of play and some serious strategy. The score remained close up until halftime, with the Demons leading 45 to 42 at the break. In the second half, the Shocks stepped up their game and managed to pull ahead with a few well-played jams. Though the Demons played their hardest, the Toxic Shocks prevailed with a final score of 107 to 82, racking up their third championship win in a row.
