March 13, 2010: 2010 Season Opener
Bout One – Atlanta All-Stars (Dirty South Derby Girls) vs St. Louis, MO All-stars (Arch Rival Rollergirls)
Dirty South Derby Girls opened the ARG home season with a solid victory over the Saint Louis Arch Rivals on March 13. DSDG took an early lead, controlling the jams, and keeping the Arch Rivals in the single digits well into the first half. Jammers Merchant of Menace and Demi Gore each delivered awesome power jams, and DSDG moved into an impressive lead. In spite of a late first half rally by the Arch Rivals and some fierce jamming by St. Louis’s Black Market Baby, DSDG led at the half by a comfortable margin. In the second half the Arch Rivals came back to give the Dirty South Girls a tough fight, narrowing the point spread and putting more pressure on DSDG’s jammers. But Dirty South stayed tougher, never gave up their lead, and rolled on to a sweet victory, 116-79.
Bout Two – The Sake Tuyas Vs The Apocalypstix
The first home-team bout of season began with the Stix storming onto the track, gaining lead jammer multiple times, and holding the Sakes at only 2 points for the first 5 jams. The Sakes’ quick-stepping jammers and hard hitting defense helped land them right on the heels of the Stix at halftime. The Sakes continued to fight and hold their place on the track through the remainder of the game. Power jams and Sake trips to the penalty box helped the Stix pull further ahead in the second half, ultimately leading to their win – 139 to 49.
