The Merchant of Menace, #1LB
Current Teams: Dirty South Derby Girls, Sake Tuyas
Hometown: San Diego, CA
Years with ARG: 2008-2012
Athletic Background: I played softball as a kid and soccer most of my life. I also dabbled in roller hockey for a couple of years.
Accolades: Toxic Shocks MVP – 2009
Best Jammer – 2009, 2010, 2011
Favorite Position: Power Blocker, Jammer
Signature Move: Not sure. Some of my leaguemates call me “robot,” I guess because I just keep methodically moving forward no matter what. Does that count as a signature move?
Proudest Derby Moment: DSDG traveled to San Diego in 2010 to play against the San Diego and L.A. teams, and I had a big cheering section. It was great to finally be able to share this sport with so many of my friends and family who live in Cali!
Favorite Derby Fan: I love them all. But there’s a special place in my heart for Marshal Art.
Pre-bout Ritual: Clean bearings. Eat lunch. Try to get to the venue on time.
Derby Hero: My biggest heroes are the skaters who start off wobbly and slow, but with a fire to succeed. The ones who get knocked down all the time but just keep getting back up and pushing themselves, until they become the ones knocking other people down.
Best thing about being an Atlanta Rollergirl: That’s a tough one to narrow down. Derby’s an amazing sport, and Atlanta’s an amazing league. The fans are awesome. The refs are really good (yeah, I said it). But most of all, I think the best thing is knowing that there are about 80 women who have my back, no matter what. How great is that?
